Vacancy: Lecturer at Newbold College

Newbold College of Higher Education, United Kingdom, seeks to appoint a full-time lecturer within its Department of Theological Studies. The Department is internationally recognised in Seventh-day Adventist Christian circles as being a centre of excellence in biblical, theological and pastoral education.

Applications are invited from women and men with expertise in at least one area offered within the Department (ie Biblical Studies – Old Testament and/or New Testament; Pastoral Studies; or Theological Studies), and with a proven ability to contribute to at least one other discipline.

Contours of European Adventism: Issues in the History of the Denomination on the Old Continent 

You are welcome to submit an abstract (100 to 150 words) of a proposed 30-minute paper until November 20, 2017. Papers should address one of the themes listed below in a historical perspective. Case studies are welcome; suggest an additional topic if you are an expert on it. All presenters are requested to consent to two avenues of publication: (1) the symposium pro­ceedings, and (2) the Encyclopedia of Seventh-day Adventists.

ETTC Registration

Registration is open for the biannual meeting of the EASRS, the European Theology Teachers Conference will be held from April 19–23, 2017, at Friedensau University. The theme is “On the Freedom of a Christian”: Human Accountability and Liberty in the Light of the Reformation

Please fill in details in the attached registration form and send to Lilli Unrau, theologie@thh-friedensau.de by January 30, 2017.

Arrival and departure

The convention starts on Wednesday, April 19, 6 p.m., with dinner. Check-in begins at 2:30 p.m.
The programme will end on Sabbath, April 22, 9:30 p.m., with the Lord’s Supper. On Sunday morning, April 23, breakfast will be provided.

Trips to Wittenberg (Wednesday) and Berlin (Sunday)

These are special programmes and cost 60 € (Wittenberg) viz. 50 € (Berlin). Please note on the registration form whether you want to participate. Included in the trips:

 Transfer (start 9 a.m., back to Friedensau about 6:30 p.m.)
 Tours/museum entrance, lunch
 Wittenberg: Luther house, the two historic churches, the “Luther Panorama”
 Berlin: The group will choose museums and sights among the Jewish Museum,

the Reichstag, the “Topography of Terror” Museum, and other historical museums

Payments for rooms, full board and participation in the entire programme will be done at arrival. Choose one of the following options:
Single room guest house, €225
Single room standard, €195

Registration without accommodation & breakfast, €50

Although we cannot guarantee that your preference will be available, we will try to do our best.

Extra nights and extra meals

Extra nights (e.g. for those participating in the Wittenberg and/or Berlin trips) will have to be paid directly to the guest house; rates range from 22 € (double room standard) to 34 € (single room guest house) apply. Extra meals can also be settled with the guest house.

Programme of the convention

The final programme of the convention will be issued by February 15, 2017. It will be available here.
